Hellen Fungenerous
  • My company has recently released a brand a completely new software to replace the current, legacy software. I have been tasked with creating training that demonstrates key tasks that cashiers need to complete in the new software. This course focuses on creating and managing pledges in the software. It is one of 8 courses in the Cashier Accelerator Learning Path.

I was responsible for designing and developing this project from beginning to end. I created Hellen FunGenerous as a way to make a fairly dry concept more engaging. This video is the introduction of the creating pledges module.

I was responsible for collaborating with an SME to confirm the process of creating and managing pledges in the software. After gathering this information, I created the talk show concept and wrote a script.

  • This course is a part of an Accelerator Learning Path for Cashiers to learn how to effectively use our software to complete Pledges.

    1. Describe the purpose of a pledge.

    2. Apply the steps to create a pledge.

    3. Examine changes to the customer account and the pledge account after creating a pledge.

    4. Produce an invoice for the pledge agency.

    5. Practice posting a pledge agency.

My Process

I wanted to recreate the set of the Ellen DeGeneres show as closely as possible, so I ended up building the background from scratch, rather than using a template. Although I was able to save this as a template for a “tv show” for later use.

Because Pledges typically involve customers who are experiencing difficulties in life, I felt that a talk show would be a very effective way to engage the learners while teaching them the process in the software.

After creating and templatizing the background and characters, I recorded all of the course script. Because there are three different characters, I edited the audio to create three distinct voices. Finally I added the audio and sound effects to each scene, downloaded the video, and added it to the project in Storyline 360.
