Camtasia Sample:

My Process
  • Because I was structuring the information as microlearning videos, a large concern was keeping the topics as concise and topic-based as possible.

Utilizing a microlearning format had several benefits:

  • The members of the LAC are mostly people managers and have busy schedules. To respect their time, I kept the videos short, around a minute.

  • Shorter videos meant that there was a better chance that the intended learners would be able to find time to complete the learning in a timely manner.

  • Chunking the information into short and concise topics makes it more likely the learning will retain the information.

  • Restricting videos lengths meant I had to keep only the necessary information and eliminate all the "fluff."

  • To obtain the appropriate visuals, I used a new, very clean Confluence page to avoid clutter and reduce the cognitive load for the learner.

  • I screen recorded the process with Camtasia and added my audio to the media bucket, inserting screenshots where the learner would need more time to absorb the information. I then finished off the video by adding highlights to focus the learner’s attention on the screen.

  • The completed Confluence videos were shared with the committee and uploaded to the company's LMS.
